The second year of the Jean Monnet Module begins with a seminar entitled “Reflections on judicial cooperation, cyber security and artificial intelligence: the implications for human rights.”
The third-year teaching course of the Jean Monnet Module will start in March 2025.
Specifically, the course will focus on the analysis and search for practical and theoretical solutions, aimed at balancing opposing interests, for the creation of a European reference model for the circulation of personal data. In particular, consideration will be given, on the one hand, to the interests of users of services related to the processing and circulation of personal data and, on the other hand, to those of digital service providers, through an analysis of what might be the most appropriate tools to prevent the recourse to unfair and unlawful practices and to foster the creation of a European reference model in this field.

Digital is not just a technology. “It is the foundational technological medium of the information society, which makes possible the unlimited expansion of interactive networks in every area of our existence” (Manuel Castells). Networks that give rise to a new social morphology within which a new paradigm of information technology develops according to five main characteristics: information as the raw material on which to act, the pervasiveness of the information technologies used, the logic of networking, flexibility, and convergence (Castells). Within it, social media is now the privileged place where consumers and companies acquire information about quality, brands, products, and above all, it has enabled the emergence of new professions. Along this linear the idea of “telling” three specific segments of digital innovation.
Semiannual seminars will be held by various experts in the field, during which individual specific issues will be addressed so as to provide highly specialized training.
Specific workshops will be set up for practical exercises on case studies and to discuss corporate experiences with experts in the field.
